From the Ridgeway the route descends through woodland to the source of the River Misbourne which it follows through Amersham to Denham where it joins the River Colne and ends on the towpath of the Grand Union Canal (source LDWA)
Old Shire Lane Jcn with SBW to UxbridgeSaturday 3 November 2012 - 4.5 MilesID03112012#68b This was an on the fly mash-up, so I started the day at Chorleywood, on the Old Shire Lane Circular and then moved onto this route, where it connects at Tilehouse Lane. So, from there I walked South along Tilehouse Lane, following the Waymarkers/Posts. After a 1/3 mile I came across a lovely surprise - the Denham Aerodrome - it was buzzing with activity, there were a load of prop jobs, cessna type things all coming and going right in front of me, and a helicopter was practising take off and landings, so I presume this was all to do with a flying school. I watched for around ten minutes and on the other side of the road wa accosted by several friendly horses. Continuing on, soon turning left onto Denham Green Lane, leading across the A412 North Orbital Road, and straight across, passing flats and continuing on to reach a footpath off to the right to follow this 'The Pyghtle' passing under the high bridge of Denham Station, then a long narrow tarmac path to soon reach Denham Village, which seemed frightfully posh - the first house I came to had a huge fleet of very expensive motors parked in the driveway Walking through the village and after passing the church, soon coming to a bend in the road, carrying straight on through Denham Country Park, across the edge of a Golf Course, crossing the River Colne and popping out onto the towpath of the Grand Union. The path officially ends here, but I had to get home of course, so walked South to Uxbridge Station on the London LOOP (previously completed) as dusk approached. Had a rather circuitous ride home to get maximum value from my one day travelcard, as you do. Still got most of this walk to do, however I have got the ugliest section done first! Tilehouse Lane, after leaving the Old Shire Lane Circular Flying shenanigans at Denham Aerodrome One of many take off and landings On the other side of the road, a few friendly horsies vied for a stroke on the muzzle, they got bored because I had nothing for them to eat Down Denham Green Lane to cross the A412 Under the mighty bridge at Denham Station Down the Pyghtle footpath The charming village of Denham, lots of lovely houses and motors Pleasant stroll across Golf Course at Denham following by the Misbourne Sculpture and wooden shelter thing in Denham Country Park After crossing the Colne, popping out on the Grand Union Canal at Denham Lock, just walk into Uxbridge to go home now Quite rural looking towards Uxbridge By the time I had a rest on this bench and a bit of scoff it was starting to get dark as I headed to Uxbridge Station
