The South Downs Way

The SDW is a 105 mile National Trail
running between Winchester in Hampshire and Eastbourne, East
Sussex. I completed it in sections in 2003: Eastbourne
to Alfriston (Seven Sisters), Eastbourne to Southease (Bridleway),
Southease to Pyecombe, Pyecombe to Amberley, Amberley to Buriton,
Buriton to Winchester (Hampshire).
This was my first National Trail and a wonderful
introduction to long distance walking. The first couple
of sections are probably the most spectacular, with Seven Sisters
and Devils Dyke being the most memorable.
I took many pictures on this walk and a selection
follow.

At Amberley, I still had to walk on a couple of miles into Petersfield as I had missed the last bus.

Bus from Petersfield to Buriton. Walked to Winchester and stayed in the wonderful YH situated (at the time) in the mill. Finished walk around 2130! The next day - had shuftie round the town, then train back home, a rosy glow of a job well done.
